I had lots of android phones until three years ago when I changed to apple because my phones always needed firmware wipes and stuff that I wasn't interested in dealing with. Same for my PC's and laptops, I'm not interested in computer building and maintenance I just want a phone and Laptop that work day in day out without issue. I have a Mac Book Pro and an iPhone 6 and never been happier with my gear.
I had a couple of Sony phones and both were crap, I sent one back before the "cool off period". Samsung was the best I had.

It's got to be android I'm afraid, while I love iOS for tablets it's lack of tethering option makes it a no option for me as a phone. Also and very strangely Android phones are much easier and better to turn into airplay receivers than iPhone's and I do that a lot.

What's tethering? Is that like the personal hotspot I use all the time?

My provider have made it so you can't tether unless you jailbreak your iPhone.... I can do it On Android without going through the hassle.

That's bloody ridiculous, no such problem with O2

Agreed, but I'm happy with my contract because it's a good deal and it allows me to get an even better deal for Rachel's.

I can recommend HTC. I have a one mini and its brilliant. Great camera, great sound, never had any problems, it just does what you want quickly and fuss free. Have had iPhones, Samsung galaxies and Sony and it beats them all hands down. It'll be hard to buy anything but an HTC next time.

The G3 is fantastic, my stepdad has it. Laser range finder on the camera focus. The screen is out of this world, it's 4x the resolution of the HTC and Sony. The only things that goes against it to me is the size/form factor. It's more like a Phablet and much too big for my pocket day to day. And it's partially made from plastic which I don't want this time round.

                      Okidoke - My two pennorth...

WTF are you people doing with your phones???????
I've dropped mine down the stairs, driven off with it on top of my car etc etc.... and it's fine. Not a scratch on it.
Over the past few years I have had:
                      iPhone 4 - Toss
Nexus 4 - Bundle of sheer awesomeness
Moto G LTE - Best phone for the money by a country mile
Moto X - Quite astounding - Android OS actually made better.
My next phone will be the next gen Moto when it lands.

As far as you phone abusers go - don't buy a phone because you think it will survive your abuse - buy a phone you like, then put it in a decent case, like an Otterbox or Griffin - I used both of these with my iPhone, as the kids were younger and didn't respect technology at all - Which is why my phone got thrown in the bath by my son..... An it was perfectly fine...

Thinking about it.... with new child on the way, maybe I should get a case again!

My phones tend to survive but due to my work they can face some specific threats.

While I have been looking around at what to get, I have come across some so called high end phones that just feel a bit naff in the hand. Cheap plastic that seems like it would flex a bit under pressure etc.

I suppose I just want something classy. That feels and looks like thought has been put into the design. Something that I would be proud to take out of my pocket. But still has some great tech.

The same as, why buy an Omega watch when I have a rubber Cassio that tells better time?

I will check out Motorola though, they always used to put out some fantastic well though out phones.... But went off my radar a few years ago.

Well in that case, may I direct you to the Moto X - The back on mine is made of kevlar (and nope, I'm not kidding!).

Ooh - and it doesn't have to be plastic to flex - look at the iBendyphone for proof!

Just looking at he Moto X, when's the next one due out? The only thing that is worrying me is the 2200mah battery and the screen res is comparatively low..... But it was out a year before the other phones I'm looking at so not a fair comparison as a lot happens in a year.

A while back Motorola put out a phone with a moisture repellent coating and a meaty single core processor while the trend was for much less powerful dual cores. It was a lovely phone, very fast for single applications very slim in the pocket and one of the first I had seen with an attempt at weather proofing that wasn't a "Tough" phone. Can't remember which one it was though.
