  • For science fiction lovers of the "hard" variety the US are six episodes into "The Expanse" and my god I am DEEPLY into this show. I confidently say this is by far the best science fiction being put out at the moment. I do not know if it is being broadcast in the UK yet but if you cannot find it on any station then try elsewhere because god damn, it is good!
"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love, they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock!"

      So what's it about then?

      • It is an adaptation of a series of five books (so far). The main political powers are Earth (the U.N.), Mars which is a militaristic power and the "belters" who mine and work the asteroid belt to feed the demands of the planet. It revolves around the power play of those protagonists. I shouldn't really go further but it is SCIENCE fiction so no warp speed or transporters, etc, etc.

            • We've just started Making a Murderer on Netflix, only watched the first three episodes but quite gripped.

I've just watched episode 8, it only gets better as you get through the series.

                  • I think I am going to put everything else on hold to watch this too. I have heard so many people raving about it now.

                    • Making a Murderer is very good, but having read a bit more into it since finishing the series, it appears the film makers left out quite a lot from the prosecution. I won't spoil anything for those who haven't finished yet.

Our lasses has never seen Prison Break so I'm watching that with her now.

Absolutely brilliant (if you're into togas that is).

                          • If you are into something different and unique, give Sense8 on Netflix a try. Written by Michael Stracinsky (Babylon 5) and the Wachowskies (Matrix). Its a very well thought through story, shot on 9 locations around world and masterfully cut.

                            • I managed to finish The Leftovers tonight so I will be starting something new this week.
At the moment it will probably be Making a Murderer, unless something else grabs me.
