It affords control and perhaps we would see the end of that super skunk which buggers a lot of heads up.

FASD is bad enough, but the number of substance dependant newborns is staggering, 22 years of hands on looking after kids who have parents who have put their right to have a "good time" before the welfare and rights of the unborn child really does not sit well with me, legalising just sends out the message that its ok to use these substances.
It is a very short sighted rights of the individual over the rights of those who do not get a say, small case scenario, you are an average guy, who wants to be a Dad, you meet up with a woman, she ends up pregnant, you split up, she is a pothead, smokes during pregnancy and drinks (drink and drugs are linked), baby is born with FASD, and pot related issues, how you feeling now about your damaged child.

Use and misuse are always going to be contentious issues for sure jabba. Legal substances as you rightly point out lead to damage, both pre and post natally. I don't think the message of legalisation would be that people can now officially f#ck themselves and their families up, more that the really reliable powers that be can get handle on, and regulate things. Mmm, let me think about that it would be a very complex situation both legally and morally for any Gov to move on it. I wouldn't like to be part of the decision making process. Like yourself, I fully appreciate the inter generational aspects, and potential damages, caused by substance misuse.

It frustrates me that mp's talk about making drugs legal, when they are making tobacco smoking such a taboo.
