Have you tried fly fishing? Just being outside and trying to outwit the fish is fun. Plus having lunch and a stick always helps! But I've fished for about 35 years anyway. Love it but I seem to hardly get the chance any more!

Nope never tried any sort of fishing. I vaguely remember something when i was a kid that involved a hook and my thumb. I expect after that, there wasn't much interest in fishing...

I white water kayak and canoe (neither very well) and volunteer as an instructor for a local youth canoe club. Trying to get back into cylcing and have just signed up to do the london to brighton

I love to cycle, do so every day. Maybe not tomorrow though since it's going to snow.

Apart from my Cuban cigars. I keep and breed british birds course fish and also shoot.

Hi Shamz, thanks! I connect my DSLR to a telescope which sits on an equatorial mount. The mount is calibrated at the beginning of a session by aligning it with certain stars. Add a bit of information to the system and then it will track the Earth's rotation which allows me to keep the shutter open for up to about 4 minutes. I take lots of photos with different exposure times and then compile them and use software to pull the information out. I was lucky in that I live in area with low light pollution but we've just had houses built behind us....and right up to our border!

interesting.....sounds complex...but the outcome looks fantastic.

Wow glad to see so many 'fluff chuckers' on the forum!

I fly fish for trout but I must admit I'm usually a fair weather fisherman! Can't be bothered in cold wet weather because it ruins my lunchtime smoke haha. Cigars come first for me.

Other hobbies include hiking, collecting/listening to vinyl records, good wine or whisky, and well I guess anything else that enhances my smoking experience [emoji4]

You mean the fish? That?s in Tierra del Fuego. The paragliding photo is from Porterville, SA.

I spent almost 35 years in fly fishing and classic salmon flytying. Since 2006 though, I?ve spent most of my time in the air in my paraglider[emoji41]

It's true. And totally immersive (although hopefully not in the water sense) - you forget about everything else. I haven't done enough of it so, in spored by these posts, I'm going to get my tackle out (now, now missus!) and give it a go again. Local to me are the Albury Estate fisheries and the (alas, now closed) shop of Peter Cockwill, another expert generous with his time and experience. I've never fished a 'proper' river or a loch and would love to do that sometime.

I?m beginning to see the perfect excuse for a days herfing and fishing....
