Hey CJ, I guess I should have looked at the date of your post. Well, I am glad your foot is better anyhow.

Cheers Jdawg. The pic up above was a month ago, so it's a heap better now, phew.

    Cheers for asking HabS

The ankle remains swollen to the outside and actually looks malformed

On top, or under this anatomically, is damage to the fatty tissue of the heel (sustained previosuly, but worsened by the impact)

Which as you note can be handy for the ol' empathy chestnut

Kiting has been out since sadly although I shall return

Hey Simon, I had my best game ever when on tour and pished, it was a Sunday morning game near Chester and we had been on the lash for about 12 hours straight. I don't remember the game, I just (vaguely) remember getting man of the match after.

Elevation makes perfect sense Monkey as yesrtday morning it felt ok-ish, but got progressively more painful within hours, swelling back up.

So the general consensus seems to be kick back with booze and a phat one.

I'm under Dr. Botl's orders then

Nics advice on Arnica cream is best. I've used it on heavy bruising before and it works wonders.

Hope you recover quickly dude. Remember to keep it elevated AKA kick back with your feet up and have a cigar

I broke my wrist once (again, playing rugby), however, as we were on tour, we were quite sozzled before we even got to the ground. So I carried on (for another 60 minutes - I even had one of my best games ever). The alcohol had numbed the pain. I couldn't go to the hospital afterwards - again, on tour, no quitting (plus the opposition were sponsored by an, ahem, 'exotic dancing' club - couldn't miss that now, could I). Mind you, the next morning was horrific... one of the world's worst hang-overs, and the most painful broken wrist I can imagine. Eventually got back to Gloucester and went to the hospital (after a couple more drinks at the club - honest, I'm not an alcoholic... ). The doctor at A&E, having taken the x-ray asked me to confirm when I'd done it - yes, it was about thirty hours ago...

Sorry cj, hijaking your 'ouch' thread...

I didn't know Arnica was also called Mountain Tobacco, how appropriate.

    Thanks for your thoughts chaps.

Nic, I know, it could have been far worse like you say. That would have been awful: one pursuit leading to the loss of both! The doctor, on seeing my wife heavily pregnant asked if I was going to keep the hobby up, I sheapishly replied "yes, but not as often"

    Arnica sounds the real deal

Them portly props and their lack of unaided balance eh Simon

That's all those pack people, not right in the upstairs. I remember a small hooker (no jibes) climbing up me like a piece of gym apparatus when I used to play as a youth. Had to brush him off like a bug, the git.

I'm looking into the arnica tomorrow.

I'll post further pictures of my swelling if you ask nicely

Good lord cj! That looks horrible. As nic says, at least the cigar arm appears to be un-injured.

High speeds, kites, near to the ground. Sounds awesome - until you get unceremoniously dumped that is...

I badly sprained one of my ankles a few years ago (when a rather portly prop decided to fall on it, and then lie on it, during a rugby match). I couldn't put any weight on it at all. A couple of weeks of chiropractic on the foot and lower leg (and ankle, obviously) and it has come back a strong as ever (not immediately though).
