Manicures!
Mumsnet.com
Always fancied a manicure, but I?ve never plucked up the courage to go in and ask for one, one of my great uncles always had immaculately manicured nails. I remember being taken up to Regents street before Christmas to see the lights and visit Hamley?s. He used to go to an old fashioned barbers on Jermyn street, may well have been Trumpers. Always had a hair cut & shave while a pretty girl sat to one side and manicured his nails. Always looked forward to him visiting every couple of months as my brother and I, my sister wasn?t old enough, would he given a 10 shilling note.!!

Manicures!
A very strange thread
A manicure is something that has never crossed my mind, but having considered it I don?t think my nails have ever bothered me enough to warrant it, and it certainly wouldn?t worth the grief I would get from work and, especially, from the wife

I have to say, with all due respect, that some of the pictures of hands holding cigars, when posted as real close-ups, can be a bit off-putting...

Well, actually not - me thinks. Since my fly tying days, we?ve been discussing pictures and videos related to instruction, and it?s always been clear that having well groomed hands and nails are an essential to bring the audience close and not the opposite. I know my fingers aren?t perfect in my cigar pics, but I must admit there are quite a number of cigar pics (not only in here) where I remember people nails more than the cigar in the picOriginally posted by ha_banos View PostMost peculiar thread on a cigar forum ever?

But hey, I?m not judging, some of us are blue collars posting pics of a well earned smoke just after work. I can live with that.

Sadly a consequence of the cold weather as much as our lack of moisturisingOriginally posted by moteyi View PostNot so much how the nails look, it's the skin splitting around the cuticles and the nails themselves splitting which can be be both irritating and quite uncomfortable.

Love the I have a friend who... comments.
I occasionally use Norwegian Formula on my dry hands after a weekend of gardening as they're wrecked and sore.
Been a long time since wearing nail varnish though .... (80s Goth ).

Well I guess if there's going to be a manicure story, I guess it should go like that.Originally posted by moteyi View PostAt least it is in the off topic section!
A good friend of mine who is a mechanic had his done the day before his wedding and IIRC the manicurist nearly passed out! She said she'd never seen hands like it and didn't know where to start.

Indeed an unusual subject, guess that shows how touchy, feely we are becoming in our tight knit group. I do my own nails but I the use 'tough as nails' varnish, as my nails split really easily. It often attracts some ribald comments on the rig. Sometimes you notice there are shiny in my photos. The varnish does work well if anyone suffers a similar problem. Use two coats & it'll last around a week.

Not ever had my nails done but I did buy some O?Keefe?s Working Hands because I get very dry hands and it?s incredible stuff. I?d recommend putting on before bed though, it can feel a little odd on your skin!
Perhaps try this before inhaling all those nail bar fumes?...
