              • Watching genesis being over blown on the telly! Chester Thompson and Phil Collins playing drums together and amazingly its pretty awesome... not usually a fan of drum solos!

                • Phil Collins is often mocked but musically he has come out with some amazing stuff, a couple of his 80s solo albums are top stuff, FACE VALUE is up there as being one of my favourite albums, I can?t stand the ballads he seems so keen on churning out nowadays though?

                  • I've been thinking about playing some country dates in small pubs with friends who share an interest in (broad term) country.

Discussed so far... Willie Nelson. Bonnie Raitt. And these guys who are wonderful.

You get to wear hats, of course.

                    • I have a soft spot for good songs regardless of genre... and there are some great country tunes. Its also interesting to hear people like Glen Campbell doing covers of things like the Foo Fighters. I lived in America for a while though and the bar is set pretty low quality wise with some of the country stuff.

Go for the country thing Bryan...it'll be great.

HOWEVER... My ex was a country nut... she used to sing for Scotty Moore's Band (he was the guitarist on Heartbreak Hotel, Hound Dog, Blue Suede Shoes etc) and whilst he is a legend hes a grumpy bastard and really can't play anymore.

At what age do we learn to give it a rest? Tome Jones (surely not)? Status Quo (never)? The Rolling Stones (possibly)! LOL

Bring on the fury of the Stones Fans! lol

                      Love you all!

                        • When it's in one's blood, darling, one never ceases! lol

I think I'm going to get the cowboy boots next!

If I don't have a Plan B in making music, the repetition involved in the first project - no matter how good - will drive me nuts.

                          • Bryan, I totally understand.

The insanity of playing the same junk every night is only evened out by writing and working in the studio on new stuff. However at least the gigging gets me out of the house! lol

                            • I was playing for New Year - like you, Drew - so watched Elton John Live At The O2 on ITV Replay.

I have just about everything the man has recorded.

He sang very well on NYE. I think his singing can sound very ropey.

He does, however, come across vocally as a parody of himself these days. He also alters the vocal melody lines willy nilly, so the Your Song put out bore no resemblance at times to the original version most people will know. I'm used to this carry-on, but first timers at one of his gigs might have wondered what was going on.

I thought he and the band played very well, and Will Young has a good voice.

I've seen his Red Piano show right there at the O2 and the vast cinemascope screen is so over the top it knocks you out because you can't refuse it.

Boiled down to an ITV night - with that bloody girl getting in the way as a hostess - the whole effect was lost.

See - He's going at it still at nearly 62.

                              • Just been listening to Carbon/Silicon (Mick Jones and Tony James). Interesing stuff, it's a bit different, I think I'll have to listen to it a couple more times but it's certainly pretty good. Not sure which of their albums it is, its just a copy I was given to check them out.
