What are you reading?

I have no problem admitting I am a book worm and one of the things I enkoy most, weather permitting, is sitting in the sun with a nice book, a fine cigar and a tasty drink at my side.

Seeing we have a very succesfull "what are you listening to" discussion, I thought it might be nice to start a similar thread on books, comics, magazines, papers... whaterver printed word rocks your boat .

At the moment I am reading Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere. I only recently discovered Gaiman's books (I had read a few of his comics) and love the surreal stories, the same way I like Terry Gilliam movies.

Hi there - I read Neverwhere about a month ago and utterly loved it Like you I've read Gaiman mostly in comic format...I'm a comix geek myself LOL

Currently reading the AUTUMN series by David Moody....zombie apocalypse stuff...amazing writer. I urge anyone with who loved the 28 Days/Weeks series to give these books a go

Next on my list will be the new James Ellroy

Currently reading Brute Force by Andy McNab. Not a heavyweight author by any means I agree, but once I start reading a series of books I always carry on. Been reading his books for about 10 years now in that series.

The book I just finished before that was The Knights of the Black and White by Jack Whyte. The 1st of a set of three about the Templar Knights.

started on Sun Tzu's the art of war, a couple of nights a go. Not much of a heavy read but takes a while to absorb.

Amazing how the fundamentals of it still apply today in so many situations...

I used to collect comics, have around 30,000 in storage lol, my wife goes nuts.

I just finished book 22 of Feists magician saga, waiting for book 23 to come out in paperback, and im halfway through book 3 of Robert Jordans Wheel of Time saga.

"If Chins Could Kill, Confessions of a B movie actor". It's Bruce Campbell's memoirs. He's the fella from Evil Dead. . It's funny, self deprecating and sweet.

Lol that's actually quite funny.

I'm currently reading Elephants on Acid. Its a great book about historic experiments, there are times when it can get quite gross but I guess that's the nature of the book. Its fantastic toilet reading material

Drewmidorn, love Bruce Campbell, is it really worth reading?

I am in the middle of a book I was trying to source a copy of for some time. "Hunting Force Z" by Richard Hough. I finally found an old second hand copy only to learn that it had been reprinted more recently, oops.

It is the account of the sinking of a Royal Navy battleship and battlecruiser by Jap aircraft early in WWII. They were the first capitol ships of any navy to be sunk by aircraft alone. It was a turning point in military thinking and rather shameful on our part.

I will stop there. Naval (and military) history is my thing and I can ramble for hours.

Last book i read was "Touching the Void" by Joe Simpson, a book about mountaineering and all it?s adventures and misadventures. I?ve been to Nepal and at the Base Camp of Mount Everest, so it?s a subject i can relate a little. English version.

Has i work at the biggest printing plant in Portugal (and one of the biggest in the Iberian peninsula), i read some of the best magazines and papers available here, sometimes i get tired of reading...

Anyway good idea to create this topic.

Its a really easy, fun read and very anecdotal.

My Dad's a military history buff.hAt one point he spent a great deal of time finding out about the SS Khedive Ismail which his dad was on when it sank. There is a proper book on it now. Would have saved him a lot of time if it had been around years earlier!

Just found the murder mystery/detective series Bryant and May (Yer I know, the match manufacturers).
By Christopher Fowler, he's written about seven so far, nice enjoyable read.
