  • The Cigar Factories of Ybor City

I've always been fascinated with the history of Ybor City. These past few weeks, I've been doing some research on Ybor's cigar factories. Today, I posted the first in a series of articles that talk about the factory buildings that are still in existence. Here is the link to the main index page: The Cigar Factories of Ybor City

I'll be adding new posts to the main page at least once a week, perhaps twice a week as I have at least 24 articles on the subject.

I hope you enjoy reading these articles as much as I enjoyed writing them.

      Yes,
I remember as a small boy some of the elders once speaking of a long lost city that was full of cigar factories but has sadly never been found.
Many have tried to discover it's location and secrets but failed.
      It's the stuff of legend.

Love Ybor city! Sorry to see the increasing losses of the cigar industry there.

Having said that (Yes, I just did. Didn't I?), I'm just the teensiest bit confused about your upcoming articles. From your link, I ciphered 24 articles you identified as all "coming soon."

Now, TU, old TobaccoLeafPuffer, I'm no innocent to the art of journalistic endeavo(u)r and although I know it's possible to churn out reams of drivel (just read my posties, for goshness steaks), your proposed articles eck-shoe-elly (did I pronounce that right?) require research and refinement. To stipulate that you will have 24 of these mothers all "coming soon" might be just a teensy weensy ambitious maybe don'tcha think?

          Just migh too sense...

You are correct. I have been doing the research for quite some time. I have a handful of articles ready to go right now. I am formatting and verifying facts on the rest. All of my photos have been taken and formatted for the column. I could crank one article out per day but I would prefer to dole them out twice a week. This way, I'll keep a constant flow of traffic to my column. So my "coming soon" will span the next three months. I guess that's not really "soon" for some of the later articles. Perhaps I should put specific dates instead?

Very cool, Tom! I frequented Ybor City often when I was stationed at MacDill AFB. Ybor City is where I purchased my very first cigar. I have fond memories of that place.
