I'll re-begin.... I've just picked up a copy of Don Quixote in anticipation of the second series of The Newsroom making it to the UK in a little less than a month.

There is, but I suspect the lads are ready to move on. So let's move on.

Don't know much about don Quixote (or algebra, for that matter), but the Newsroom is an excellent series and I can't wait for it's return.

But now that I think about it, this post properly belongs in the WTF Are You Watching Now, Lard Arse
Forum (Do we have a forum like that?)

Umm, when did you get back RJ and does this mean I have to stop posting?

for what it's worth simon, i don't mind if one of the mods wants to remove the 'debate' altogether!! i moved past it already, it seems mr moore felt the need to resurrect the 'debate' and do some mud slinging without my knowledge, but then what brave internet warrior is gonna let someone know they are about to bad mouth them?

as for your post simon, i started reading don quixote not too long ago....... then fell by the wayside!! lol!! i'll get back to it eventually!! like i said, at the moment, i'm re-reading brion gysin's 'the process' and aldous huxley's 'eyeless in gaza', 2 fantastic books by 2 fantastic authors!!

again, as i already stated a few posts ago....... all's good here!! i've made all my points, as has "mr" moore!! once before he requested to end the debate on an 'agree to disagree' sentiment!! i obliged!! he brought it back up by way of a few cheap shots behind my back...... nuff said!!

      • Again your completely missing the point. Tell you what Alex if you want to continue this discussion then I'm open to creating a thread. I'm not trying to offend you, I'm trying to reason with your argument and for me debating with someone who has a completely alternative outlook is absolutely fine. I am still slightly confused at what you see as offensive in my defence of CH or in my opinion that your initial attack was akin to a rant, imo.The topic is meant for book reviews and I've well over stepped the mark on that front and I apologise.
So it only seems right that this be my last post in this thread regarding Hitch or the right for a balanced discussion on his principles.

        • Personally I think we should talk about a less divisive figure, what does everyone think of Margaret Thatcher? 😜

But to get back on topic, is there any books on cigars, preferably on the history of cigars, anyone recommends? I would like to start reading one on my commute into work

PS- just to be clear - I am joking regarding Margaret Thatcher, please don't post anything!! 😄

It looks like CIV is very ill in the head at the moment, and I'd like to take advantage of his kind offer too. Does anyone fancy a heated debate? I'm not very good, but if there is a free cigar going, I'm in. We could even pretend to do it via PM??

dude, everything that has to be said on this 'topic' has been said!! i disagree strongly with you, you disagree strongly with me, that's it!! the other guys have stepped in to say enough is enough!! my years of studying and reading this kind of material is the basis of my opinion and point of view....... nuff said!! they are my opinions, agree or disagree, it's YOUR CHOICE!! you requested an end to this debate once before by way of let's 'agree to disagree', which i obliged!! you came back to get the final word by discussing MY OPINIONS with other people here without involving me...... if you wanted to discuss this further you could've contacted me via PM or started up a dedicated thread so as not to clog up this otherwise useful thread!! i've tried to move on by discussing good books i'm currently reading, the real purpose of this thread....... but you keep coming back to this!! the other guys have dropped enough hints to say they're bored with our 'debate'......... take the hint man!! FFS!!

again, to any of the mods...... stevie, dale, TJ, if you want to remove this discussion around hitchens, please feel free!!

"Cigars for idiots." It's a good book and a decent read for those who want to learn about the cigars.

again, what's with this trying to get the last word on this subject?

as for discussing christopher hitchen's 'principles' and debating with someone with and alternative POV, i've said all i've got to say!! i'd only be raking up old ground covered here and adding to it!! as you can tell, i don't like or care for the man, his principles, philosophy, POV....... god knows i tried to understand and like him (surely you get the irony in this statement)!! i was offended by your assumption i was ignorant about the man (eg your WIKIpedia comment for a start), not by your defense of the man!! again, you like him, i don't!! end of......

And to get this thread back on track, lads...lets put a lid on it ay please? If its any help, any more crap and I'll delete it. Take this to PM or start another thread. You don't need a mod to do either.

what we do need is a mod to edit the title......
unless we all enjoy the irony of ONLY this thread having this mistake now.

                        Read on holiday:

Hunger Games trilogy - top notch
The Great Gatsby - good but sad!
World War Z - very good, can't see how the film is anything like it though!

And lets not bring up the wonderful Ender's Game and the awful bigotry of it's author.....

Didn't realise Orson Scott Card had the views he does.

I'm a huge fan of the Alvin Maker series, well the 1st three books; have yet to read the remainder.
