I heard about chickens that spent their entire lives in chicken wire crates just big enough to hold them. The skin of their feet eventually grew around and over the wire. When it came time to take the chickens out to be killed, the workers had to yank them out of the cages, ripping the bottom of their feet off. Is it so much to ask to have the stewardship to give the critters a humane coop and some land to move around on?
