  • Anyone use Last.FM?

The world's largest online music service. Listen online, find out more about your favourite artists, and get music recommendations, only at Last.fm

Some of you may have been noticed my rather oversize sig featuring some of my recently played tracks. Its from a site called Last.FM.

It's a site that catalogues everything you listen to on your computer/iPod/iPhone etc and builds up charts of what you play, how many times, etc. It also gives you recommendations based on the kind of music you listen to and what other people who listen to similar stuff as you listen to. Sounds complicated but it really isnt.

It's great for finding out new music, putting up playlists which you can play from anywhere in the world using the inbuilt mp3 player/radio and also just seeing what artists you listen to and with what level of frequency.

Clicky on my sig to go to my page and you can see an example of what your page will look like if you use it.

Oh and if you already use it, post your page, lets be fwends!

Spotify is excellent, but also somewhat different in that it doesn't 'track' your plays and display them online (as far as I know?). You can actually integrate Last.FM into Spotify so that it tracks all your plays through Spotify, also.

Last.FM is fab and it's a great way of keeping an eye on what your friends are listening to, as well as making new friends by way of 'Musical Compatibility'.

      My music profile is here.

            FM!

Muchas Gracias, senorMoppy. I'll have to give 'er a go sometime. I'm always on the look out for "deep cuts" from the psychedelic sixties!

I partial to the early sixties myself, el Perro.

No you got me wrong. I didn't mean at all I have shame of what I listen to, I just see no point in updating everyone of what I am listening to, totally unnecessary in my point of view.

Sure, well there is no mechanism that 'forces' that information upon your friends. If they wish to view it then they can go out of their way to do so, but otherwise it's primarily useful in allowing you to keep a track of your own listening patterns. Although it is quite fun to compare your tastes with friends and to make new 'friends' on the basis of musical compatibility. I guess it depends how into your music you are and how much you like to share those experiences with others. But you can really surprise yourself sometimes. I never knew I listened to so much rubbish

                            Nice goin Dave

Yeh I use the site more just to see my listening patterns more than anything else, dont listen to recommendations so much. Its nice to know whats been my most played artist/song/genre this last week/month/year etc!
