Really don't understand the appeal of Twitter. I try to go back and use it every now and then but soon stop from boredom.

Bry: As said it's basically Facebook status updates. And that's it.

I don't get this tweeting thing. Who gives a shit about every fart, piss, or shit thought you're having... in real time yet!!!!


I rank it up there with "bombing & braggin', lads.

Finding it curious so far. Still not sure what it's about. Picked up DaveRave and CnBob but was astounded at how much twittering there is.

I'll look in now and then because now I can.

I'm on twitter - don't do much, just follow (bit like my life really!).

I don't fully get it, but understand it's great for those with "special interests" - I think you can search Tweets by subject or if they mention anything in specific such as "Music".

I must say though - it's been bloody fascinating over the past few days of political manoeuvrings: following that BBC's Laura Ku***berg & many others' comments.

Also good for breaking news & events such as MJ's death, Jan Moir homophobic comments et al. To see this stuff you need to find & follow some active twitter commentators such as Stephen Fry (although he's gone very quiet), David Schneider etc: anyone else you follow on TV or press as nearly all of them tweet nowadays

But seriously the social phenomenon of this kind of electronic network society is very interesting/challenging/frightening but it is happening so we better understand it because our children sure will!

I am endlessly advising people to be cautious as to what they put in an email/blog/twitter/SMS etc.

For those of you that don't know when you write something electronically it is nearly always monitored somewhere (not just spooks stuff but system administrators, network providers, employers, household members etc), it is subject to liable laws and considered prima-fascia evidence (at least in UK / Europe) and generally lives for ever.

There is no such thing as a private email and if there could be significant repercussions for you if the information gets out (getting sued, divorced, arrested, fired etc.) do not send it electronically.

I was going to put a joke closing line along the lines of 'this thread will now self destruct' but it is the wrong way to look at this subject. We just have to accept on-line and data safety is as much a pert of a lot of our lives as locking your front door and looking both ways before you cross (now don't get me started on the shocking demise of road awareness and the number of people who just walk out in front of me when I am driving).
