Let the job hunt commence!

Due to the coronavirus situation my business is basically on pause. I started an ambitious online business alone some years ago in my early twenties. I've had some success, some failures, but have battled along trying to make the best of a complex business landscape. There's potential I'll go back to the business if things pick up, but even if things do change I really need to get a job in the meantime and potentially for good!

I know many of you will be in similar situations with coronavirus hitting businesses hard.

Simply put, does anyone know of any companies they work for that might be hiring or any potential opportunities?

Haha! No, not a lift engineer... But maybe I'll give it a shot? 😉😂

I graduated from University with a degree in Computer Science and Business (for what degrees are worth...)

I have a really broad range of skills across business: Business development, marketing, industry analysis, strategy, trademark applications, people management and a bunch of other things that you juggle while running your own business.

I have tech related skills: Project managing web application development, UI/UX design, Web analytics, social media management, digital marketing and have a basic grasp of some coding languages.

As you can see it's a broad set of skills, which can be a hindrance when looking for a job! However, I'm a quick learner, hard working and love a challenge!

Hopefully someone can point you in the right direction. It's difficult at the best of times to find a good job. Only advice I can give is get an absolute word perfect CV and apply for as much as you can. Prior to handing my notice in I sent my CV to over 30 companies and didn't get a single reply, but don't let that stop you there is work available and you will succeed. All the best in the hunt 👍🏻

We'll I'm based in London, so ideally somewhere reasonably close unless the job provides accommodation of some kind.

It's hard when people just want to pigeonhole you into a position. Get a profile up on linked in. Set yourself up as available. There's a bunch of jobs there you can apply for. If of course you haven't already!

Yeah, no doubt it will be many applications and much rejection, but I don't mind that if there's something half decent at the end of the slog.

Yeah, I won't go too much into my thoughts of the typical hiring process, but it's flawed to say the least!

Definitely second ha_banos shout of LinkedIn, lot of jobs posted on there and you can connect with lots of people in the same industry or that you've worked with before.

We use it to target who to speak to within a company we'd like to work with, you can look at specific companies and the people in different positions at said company.
