  • Royal Mail Tip

Horsebox and I had a recent c8ckup with royal mail who failed to find his house... and did a return to sender on the parcel i pinged to him. The parcel hasnt turned up after more than 6 weeks... Anyways 1st class signed for has an insurance limit of £50, and you need to be able to show receipted goods for them to honour the claim... so in effect is a waste of time for trades between BOTLS - paypal transaction proof was deemed insufficient.

General advice is that you put your Surname, House Number and Post Code on to the back of any package sent. This ought to ensure things get back to you safely irrespective of the postage service you use.

My postie knows my name and house number so was confident if the parcel made it back to him, he would be able to return it to me, but sadly the system hasn't gotten it back to him yet.

more a rant than a post... but hopefully the advice on what to put on your parcels helps ....

I don't get it Matt. Don't they take sender address when you send 1st class signed for? Its entered into the system, no?

So if they don't deliver they should pay up the 50£! This is royal mail at its worst. The more I've used them, the more I want to avoid them

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Easily enough done and something I've always done out of habit.

Also be aware they don't pay out if they don't think you've got adequate cover, they won't pay out the first £50 if it's worth a fair bit over that as you're deemed not to have covered the proper value.

The website says guaranteed is only needed for money or jewellery, theres nothing on there in the terms that say it would be needed for cigars, unless they are classing them as valuables?

PO States Tobacco is not insurable so I never bother paying it.
