  • Other than cigars you do....

Couldn’t find the other thread where I THINK I started some talk about my COVID brain child slash challenge yourself.
But today was the big day where more than 4 months of meticulous woodworking came together.
Although there are two joints where you can fit a hair in between, I feel pretty pleased. Never did any woodworking before 😎

That's pretty mental. Especially for a first project. Looks amazing. And sounds like the start of many more!

I think I may finally have this CAD under control...

Yep, I was kinda bored after a month of Covid-19, then saw BERTHA by Matt Estlea on Youtube- I made it my own challenge to build it as my first WW project ever.😎

              Wow! Really impressive.
There's one man who's opinion really counts, though... How does is look, moteyi

I am very impressed Henrik - it's amazing what you can get flat-packed nowadays

Flat packed haha, Assembly is by drawboring with hardwood dowels and glueing - but I’ve assembled it with the top lying loose (top is 6” thick and weighs in at + 120 pounds) otherwise it’s stuck in the basement forever😎

As a qualified carpenter I'm very impressed with the standard of craftsmanship. Old style carpentry is a dying art in these modern times with everything being machine made. I tip my hat to you sir 😊😱

Wow, thanks mate - heartwarming 👍
You’re probably right, but judging from YouTube I’m quite amazed about 1. How many wood working channels there are and 2. How many followers a lot of them have, we’re talking 100s of K’s - so there must be quite a heavy interest.
My next project is a Moravian work bench, easier to move around😎

                        That's rather neat! Well done.

Whenever I see woodwork, crafts, etc I'm reminded of the line from The Simpsons episode re Homer's Chilli Spoon:

"They say he carved it from a bigger spoon"👍

Very impressive and much prettier than mine - I have to say though that I would be afraid to use a bench as good as yours if I had one in my workshop. The first time I forgot to use a sacrificial piece of wood when drilling a hole I think I'd cry! Hope you enjoy using it - those bessey clamps and festool ts55 will come in handy too 😉

Thanks moteyi, yeah you’re absolute right I’ve thought about that, but that’s just life — you can always build a new one🤣🤣
                              - but again with 6 inches of top there’s plenty inches to hog off along the way😎
Yeah apart from all the other tools I spent a sheit load of money on, my load of Bessey clamps have now grown from 0 to +20, a major financial setback too. BUT, buying has been an lot easier than I first thought: I’ve thought of everything in the price of a box of cigars, ie. one BIG bandsaw: 4 boxes of cigars and so forth😎🤣
