I've been using a brush and wool fat soap for years now.

Using the soap gives a much better shave than gels and foams. These products can make your stubble more brittle and hence increase the shaving rash you get. The bush awakes the hairs by pushing them in the opposite direction and the soad makes the bristle supple. I found mine in a small shop in Lyndhurst in the New Forest call the Old Appocathery. Check it out as it has loads of shaving related stuff and wwII style memorabelia.

    Enjoy

I've had my fatboy for a few weeks now and it's the best razor I've had. When it arrived it needed to be cleaned and I polished it with some metal polish from my car stuff then popped it in to some barbicide for 12 hours just to be safe, it looks like new now!

I learnt to shave with a straight razor a few years ago, it's great but needs a lot of practice! I spent a couple of months shaving my thighs to get used to it! A bit odd, i know, but very effective!

Just set up a saved search on ebay. I got my Superspeed for about 12 quid I think. There are other good razors out there though! I'm currently loving my Muhle R41.

That's a good article, shows the differences between all the models.

    I've put up a 'wanted' on B&B.

Oooh I'm all excited, want my razor now!

I use a straight razor - what i think is called a cutthroad razor here? That in combination with a wet shave is as close as your ever going to get. Its a lost art really, but i've already got my two sons shaving with one as well/

    :-)

Hello..... It was probably me!!! I'm afraid I don't have a spare razor but if you either eBay it or ask on the wanted part if the forum you should secure one for no more than ?40 ish.

Just one thing to keep in mind though, beware of sellers that are trying to palm off non fatboys as real! It actually happens! There is a link somewhere with a great explanation of "fake" fatboys somewhere! I am on my phone at the mo so am a bit limited with the Internet. Try and google it? "Fatboy vs superslim" or something similar?

And just as a footnote... I have just got dome feather blades. Oh my god!!!! It's another level! They are so sharp I can't even begin to explain.

    Good luck with the hunt.....

    Shane

    Shaving/Razors

Can't remember who, but one of you wondrous BOTL, were evangelizing about the benefits of safety razors, gillette fatboys et al.

Honestly thought it was a lot of rot, what could be better than my trusty Mach 3.
Then this afternoon at a friends house, he too was going on about how wonderful these safety razors are.

In need of a bit of a beard (currently in the goatee phase) tidy up, he let me try his Gillette slim adjustable.

Blimey, best shave I've ever had outside of a barber shop!

I've joined a shaving forum (Badger & Blade) but they are very geared towards selling to 'CONUS' (Continital U.S only, I had to look it up!) and have looked around eBay, but has any of you shaving enthusiast BOTL's got an adjustable Gillette you want shot of?
Working...
