  • Aviemore info?

Hi all.. Some pals and I are heading up to Aviemore in the Highlands for whiskey (mainly), walking and maybe a cigar or two. We are keen to visit at least a couple of distilleries and I was wondering if anyone here had done this trip before? Any tips?

Balmenach is probably the best I can think of near there, if you like a Speyside. If you’re wanting more than one are you after any particular style and what sort of distance are you happy to travel?

Love all of the regions but particularly Speyside and Islay. Won’t be travelling to Islay this time but happy to travel a little and visit 3 or 4 distilleries over a couple of days. Are the obvious ones worth a look? Mcallen/Glenfiddich etc….?

You could easily drop into Deanston and Dewar’s on the way up too. I’ve spent very little time that far North East so can’t say I’ve been to the bigger names. So it could go either way really depending on how touristy they’ve gone with it, but someone must have visited them here. I’ve mainly just nipped into shops when I’ve been nearby to others

Think we may end up booking a tour- no need to worry about getting about after a few drams
