  • CASC re-opening Friday 9th May

Hi Folks, In case any members weren't aware, the Vigar pub in Aberdeen is re-opening under new management tomorrow, from 17:00.

If not tomorrow, & you visit Aberdeen occasionally, do look it out, it will need lots of support to survive in this difficult financial times.

I'll post pic's over the weekend.

Great, hope they'll carry CC's and be as generous with the pricing as the usual owner💪

Hope so too. Paul's prices were often the best in the UK

Opening of Whisky Situation, (name of the new business), went very well. Neil & I were the first customers as the doors opened at 17:00. Free chocolate whisky, yuk! Euan confessed the Cuban stock hadn't arrived but he had chased the order up & indeed, the courier arrived within a couple of hrs.

3 beers on tap, 3 bottled beers, wine & a vast selection of whisky.

Euan was dressed in his gold & black suit, the colours of the new business. The first 48 customers who bought a cigar were given a fez, by later in the evening, several were being worn & many more smoking Havanas.

Euan explained that customers will only be able to buy singles at the bar, with the idea that they would be smoked there. Boxes & multiple singles will be available from the shop, once open; date still uncertainbut in thecnear future. Prices at the bar are to be very competitive, possibly cheaper than previously under CASC. I'll try to publish some later today

I started with a ERMD ER Espana with an on tap lager, which was fine. Followed with an Italian ER, both from my own stock, nothing aged in the shop, obviously.

Glad Wigan was able to drop in too.

Neil & I took a break to grab a 5 Guys burger, very conveniently just around the corner.

Returning at 21:30, I decided not smoke my planned RA 898, as no alcohol is allowed outside after 22:00 (as previously). The Neil kindly offered me a week Petit Julieta. I left just after 22:00 & the light was still in the sky as I headed to my hotel. Further update later.

                Day 2.
Went around to McDee's in tge morning for a fine Salmon kedgeree breakfast & then Wigan picked us up & we went to the Gordon Highlander Museum. Genuinely fascinating, spent 3 1/2hrs there.

Little confusion about opening times on Saturday but at 17:00, the doors were open & all was go. I managed to have a peek in the walk-in humi & took a few pic's, the pices are marked on the boxes.

I did a swap with Euan, an RA 898 ER for a Dippy AP ER, great chance to try one, as I surely wouldn't have paid London prices for one.

Went to eat a steak at a local pub & then a final smoke, a wee RASCC to finish off with.

Good atmosphere all weekend, positive vibes from Euan's & Carlos's future plans so I'd reckon there's a bright future for the company & would recommend checking it out, when in the area.

The shop should open next week but only for whisky sales, as they haven't enough cigar stock yet but will do shortly.
