Redundant -> Retired

Just been made redundant and with little chance of a similar job, looks like I’m retiring.

10 years till state pension so with more leisure time I’m going to have to find smaller cheaper cigars to smoke.

Well congrats then on the retirement. Am unplanned change can be a blessing. Hope the weather holds out. I'm certainly missing out on good days already being computer bound.

Time to Kickback? Seriously 10yrs is a long time to eek out until assisted with your State Pension. That last 10yrs is when you usually seen most gains in your private pensions. I would take a break but then look around for something to fill some time & have a little cash flow. At least when you're working your not spending.
P.S. I am now retired (luckily my choice) for nearly 18months & still just smoking a couple a week, slightly more most are fishing related. in the summer. It's finding the time to light up! Hence why most smoked are whilst fishing.

Simon is absolutely correct, get a pocket money job at least. I saw a YouTube video the other day about an electrician who retired and started up as a handyman to keep busy, now earns more money than he did as a sparky!
