You tease. Dark Side of the Mood IX is amongst my favourite albums of all time. The six tracks of that album are the only music on my iPhone. I went as far as to buy a genuine copy of that album, not easy when it comes to Namlook, sometimes.

holy cow t, that's my favourite one as well!!! the last 2 tracks are amazing!!! set the controls for the heart of the moog, lol!!! priceless!!!

DSOTM vol3 & 4 are fantastic as well!!!

if this is your kind of thing, check out a group called belbury poly, specifiacally an album called 'from an ancient star'!!!! quite similar, very very good!!!

i've spent hours in the studio jamming out this kind of thing using my modular & analogue stuff, much to the annoyance of my bandmates/ bands i'm working with!!! lol!!! i have the arturia emulations of the minimoog, moog modular and arp 2600 in my macbook! there's sounds designed by klaus schulze, so you get authentic dark side of the moog type stuff you can play around with and tweak to your heart's content!!! lol!!!

Staggered you even know who Pete Namlook is, well goodness.

I could gush about Portishead for hours. I saw them live for the first time when "Third" was released. Beth's voice and the instrument work is near religious for me.

I went to a performance of Oxygen by Jean Michel Jarre at the Albert Hall a couple of years ago with my father. We ended up two rows back from the stage, about ten feet from the man himself when he was playing a period Theremin. No big show stuff, just him surrounded by various electronic instruments of various periods, three or four other musicians and...that was it. It was great but made me giggle when at the end all the engineers/technicians appeared, half of them wearing Moog t-shirts that looked official.

well, big t, musically, i was initially influenced by throbbing gristle, coil, krautrock, portishead etc etc!!! my studio here in belfast is equipped with all sorts of weird and wonderful stuff that was directly influenced by the above people!!! i bought my theremin, roland space echo tape delays and analogue synths because i loved the portishead sound!!! my modular equipment and hammond organ was bought becuase of the influence of coil and krautrock!!! i've also a couple of original moogs (micro, prodigy and rogue, could never afford a minimoog)!!! funny you should mention JMJ, i've been immersed in his work lately!!! i've been using an emulation of an ems vcs3 synthisizer, his work with that on oxygene is amazing!!!

as for pete namlook, i absolutely love the dark side of the moog series he recorded with klaus schulze (and bill laswell)!!!

as for portishead, i'd certainly like to have a chat with adrian utely!!! his home studio is amazing, and he's a proper brain when it comes to old instruments and technology:

You were in contact personally with a talented musician that you respected, oh that has to earn him brownie points. I wish I was in dialogue with the Portishead crowd or Pete Namlook, etc....

anyway, aside from his personal life and sexual persuasion, he was a hell of an artist, humble and modest, and all round great person, who always spared a moment to reply to emails or have a chat!!!

oh yes, 100%!!!! however, not in the 'queeny, prancy, larry grayson way'!!! he didn't make a big deal about it, which has to be respected!!!! and you have to admit, there's something a little bit sinister when he's the one nicknamed sleazy in a band like throbbing gristle!!! lol!!!!

perhaps most on here won't be aware, or even care, but one of the greatest creative visionaries of the 20th (and 21st) century died yesterday, aged only 55!!! peter 'sleazy' christopherson!!! he's probably most famous for being a founding member of experimental music groups throbbing gristle, psychic tv and coil....... but his influences go well beyond that!!! as a graphic designer, photographer and partner in hipgnosis (with Storm Thorgerson & Aubrey Powell), he helped design some of the greatest record sleeves ever (led zeppelin, pink floyd, etc etc)!!! he is also responsible for the music video as we know it, and had created videos for all manner of music artists (this was long before MTV)!!! he is also credited, along with chris carter (of throbbing gristle and chris & cosey) as being the inventor of the sampler (before the fairlight)!!!

i was fortunate enough to have had some correspondence with him over the last few years and got to tell him on more than one occasion how much his work influenced me!!! i was also fortunate enough to see the last ever coil concert at dublin's city hall in oct2004, before the death of the other member jhonn balance!!! i'm deeply saddened by this news!!!

some random facts:
he took the 1st ever press photos of the sex pistols
he designed the infamous window display at the BOY of london shop
he directed the infamous nine inch nails broken video
created the opening soundtrack sequence to the movie se7en
