    • Got myself one of those punches the other day but mine needs a bit of sharpen. Luckily I've just given the old sharpening ceramics an overnight visit to a hydrochloric acid bath so they are like new. I'll let you know how it sharpens up.

Today's haul was pleasing. A visit earlier on to Hollingsworth's in Birmingham netted my first Monte PE (tubed) and then I arrived home to a package. Ordered on the 7th. They took some time to dispatch so I may be looking elsewhere for my next order. A box of Hoyo PRs and a few singles (D4, BBF & Famoso). Lovely condition though! Lovely oily looking dark wrappers on these.

However, that was not the purpose of sharing a piece of fine-looking puro history with my South of the Border Amigo, oh no. It was to enable a BOTL of almost antipodean proportions to experience the craftmanship of a German-made piece of engineering.

The UK had a shit load of bombs off the Germans during WWII and I wanted share another with Mexico

Re the cheap n cheerful punch cutter TJ: it cuts like a dream, unlike the nightmare I sent you muchacho
Senor cj, me amigo bueno. I truly appreciate the gesture and had no plans on outing you as the benefactor.

As many here know, I am a hugh punch man myself, as evidenced by my many early post on this fine forum. And the punch you purchased looks like a prized piece, for sure.

Names TJ, TJCoro, and I always rely on the kindness of strangers.

Re your ceramic sharpener, is it one of the rod ones, similar to a regular 'steel'?

Ta. Looking forward to firing one up, but I'll give them a little rest first.

My sharpener is one of these. If you want something relatively straightforward that gets your knives well beyond shaving sharp (seriously), then you won't go far wrong with this. I wouldn't attempt to use it for any serious reprofiling though.

Hi, is there any more space on the bandwagon? Excellent, I'll just climb on.
