I got given a couple of cigars today at work by a guy who I read and corrected his PhD thesis for. Very nice surprise! Got some sort of Trinidad (I'm not an avid Trinidad smoker so I can't tell one from the other!) and a Bolivar Royal Corona.

The guy doesn't know how much I am in to cigars, and I guess at the Davidoff store they offered to precut them in case I didn't have a cutter. But they have the weirdest cut on them. I guess its a punch, but a large punch, one for Robusto sized cigars?! I have a punch but it doesn't open them up like this, also when I use my punch its not really just the cap which is cut like this. Has anyone seen this before?

I'm a very happy boy though, its not everyday you get given a couple of high end cigars

I'd take a punt at the Trini being a Coloniales but I'm by no means certain. And that's certainly very neatly done at the cap end isn't it,not familiar with punches myself but I perhaps ought to try one on the bigger RG's,see how I like it.Nice reward for your hard work there mate, enjoy
