  • Some old and pre-embargo items

Picked these up from a seller from the bay...they're all a bit dry but still with a wee bit of aroma. Hopefully a few months in the humidor will resuscitate them

The RAs are pre-embargo I think and are the cigars I'm most chuffed with

The Partagas Prime tubo contained the wrong stick but very old anyway

    Very old tubos:

Any idea when the plastic caps were used?

Those are a great find Stevie.

I would give them at leat 6 months to aclimitise, if not longer.

I don't think they'll ever be smokeable but just to see such rarities with my own eyes is pretty damn nice

Stevie, sure you'll be able to smoke them but whether they taste of anything besides old &dusty is the question. I spent over a year trying to restore some Davidoff Cuban No1's to no avail. But they had just been stored in the box, in a drawer in a central heated house for 40yrs or so. At least yours were in tubes & as you were lucky enough to win them & not have the auction pulled (or did you do a deal with him when it was?) you might be lucky. Gently does the re-humi bit as Moneky suggests but I agree their at least a nice collecters item if nothing else. Let us know if one or all of them turn out to be a surprisng delight!

This will sound crazy. Start humidity at around 60/65% keep for a month or so. Increase to 65% keep for a month or so. Increase to 70% keep for a month or so ..... then, this is the crazy bit, take it to 75% (80% if you can) and hold it there for a month or so. Then start to reduce slowly back to your preferred smoking %. In all stages it's important to try to maintain a constant temperature of around 65?F.

              Enjoy the smokes.
If you want to, you can.
And, if you can, you must!

Hey Tippex what's the reason for bringing the humidity level up so high when restoring cigars? I have a Behike that my Uncle kept in his top drawer for two months so I want it to smoke as well as possible!
