  • Boxes from Germany

I just returned from Germany where i picked up a couple of boxes from Cigar World in Dusseldorf, 25 RASS (from March 2013), 25 H. Upmann Half Corona (from May 2013) and 2 Sancho Panza Escuderos German REs from 2011

I also got an extra RASS and H. Upmann HC as I bought a box of each - a nice little bonus! Its one of my best friends' birthday party next week so I may give these to him (partially to try to get him to get more into cigars &#128521

My only regret is not picking up a box or two more...

My desktop humidor is starting to look healthier now as well (probably due to the colder weather more than anything else) as is my small cabinet 😀

As anyone who as read the 'What are you smoking today?' threads will known I also visited a couple of lounges while over there, I'll post what they were like in the next couple of days or so in case anyone is planning a visit

Hey Sheppsea what's Germany like, my sis is going to Dusseldorf and Cologne next week and was going to get her to bring me some smokes back, any recommendations? (RE's or LE's). What's the best cigar shops? What sizes are those Sancho Pancho?

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!

Sancho Panza is the Escudero size. Very fresh, very mild.

Get any De RE. It'll be worth it. Ramon Allones 898 German RE will probably be on my wishlist. if they're out, grab as many as humanly possible! They're the same blend as the old discont. (and worshipped) RA 898!
If REs aren't to much avail, the Hoyo Grand Epicure is a good 13 LE. And other sticks I can't give good recommendations due to the fact that no one knows your taste better than you!

My apologies, these won't be out for at least another year or three..... Got a tad excited over a few articles I saw.

The rest should hold true though. German REs are killer!

I couldn't find many REs out there, apart from the Punch Sir John, which I wouldn't recommend as it wasn't anything special. Cigar World in Dusseldorf also had the Sancho Panza Escuderas (which are 50x155mm), which I haven't tried yet so can't make a recommendation either way, but I have heard some good things.

In terms of shops, they all were really good to be honest with large walk-in humidors. There are two LCdHs in Dusseldorf, the first one is just off Konigsallee (the main shopping street) and is called Selected Cigars, so that one is probably the easiest for you sister to get to, although they couldn't tell me the age of the BHK 52 I smoked in there which was a bit annoying. The other one was Cigar World, which is a bit out off the centre, but still not in the slightest bit difficult to get to (its one or two stops from the centre on the tram), I found this the friendliest and most helpful shop out there and they really went out of their way to make sure I got everything I needed

In Cologne there is Peter Heinrichs, which is just outside the main shopping street and is also a LCdH. They have probably the most impressive shop which a fantastic walk-in humidor. The problem I had was that there were quite a lot of staff (it was a busy Saturday so not surprising) but I the the assistant I got didn't really know his stuff, I'm convinced he said that the only RE they had was the Punch because I specifically mentioned that, and then he told me is was a brand new 2013 cigar when I know they were rolled in 2012 (even if they only made it to the shops in 2013). But saying that, they had a lot of cigars there so I still would still recommend going, especially during quieter times.

To be honest I would get your sister to bring back anything that you already enjoy smoking, not just REs and LEs - prices are so much cheaper over there is worth it
