  • Package from America

Here at last is a sampler pack of twenty American release cigars that my friend brought me. I know from my research that some of these are going to be shite but if they are they won't burn long. Obviously the ones with names you recognise are examples of non-Cuban copyright theft as we know but not according to the US Supreme Court. Bet they wouldn't stand by and let the Cubans sell their own Apple branded gear!
Here's the list, I'm not expecting much but hey it was twenty cigars for ?38, I've smoked cheaper and enjoyed them. I don't see any torpedoes so I think the list and what I got doesn't tally exactly.

    MonteCristo Classic Churchill
    Cohiba Puro Dominico Robusto
    Romeo y Julieta Bully
    Partagas Black Label Bravo
    Bolivar Cofradia Corona
    Bering Hallmark Corona
    Brigade by Torano Toro
    Cusano P1 Maduro Churchill
    Casa de Garcia Churchill
    Flor de Oliva Maduro Churchill
    Oro Cubano Anniversario Churchill
    Bahia Blu Churchill
Rocky Patel R4 Corojo Double Corona
    Allure Connecticut Torpedo
    Fonseca Arana Churchill
    Victor Sinclair 10th Anniversary Churchill
    Free Cuba Churchill
    Palma Real Presidente
    Carlos Torano Dominico Churchill
    Nestor Reserve Maduro Torpedo

They officially rip of Cuban brands, condoned by the government???? If that's the case then screw the US and their capitalist double standards!

Sorry for the outburst but that has really gripped my sh1t.

I'm with you on that one, if the cigar is good enough it should stand on its own name but then I imagine they only sell them in the US and they probably don't know any different.

Yeah, I gather that after the Cuban Revolution the state took ownership of all cigar production. A lot of people didn't like it so they re-setup the brands elsewhere. This is why the are Cuban and Dominican Montecristo or RyJ brands for example

What the hell happened to trademark rights?

See you later guys I'm Off to start some companies to trade in the UK with.

Microsoft, Google, Facebook, Apple and Wal-Mart all sound like good names.... Let's see how long it takes for me to get shut down.

This could all work in our favour if the embargo was ever lifted. It could take another decade to sift through the legal battles that will take place. In the meanwhile the Cuban brands are likely to want to keep existing markets sweet.

God knows. I did see this before though: http://www.cigaraficionado.com/webfe.../show/id/16998
I don't know why the other same name brands can keep theirs though

Alot of the "original" owners of the marcas fled the revolution and started up again abroad, they (or there descendants) then sold up to the big tobacco companies, so who owns the name????? The exception is Cohiba who are a post revolution brand simply ripped off.

Bacardi did the same thing but instead of using the name the Cubans called it Havana Club. It's made in the same distillery and apparently the white rum is almost identical. Rum drinkers?

There will be some interesting reviews from those sticks when you smoke them.

I'm betting the Rocky Patel will be the best of the bunch but I'm ready to be proved wrong.

They're going to sit in the humidor till New Year to get over the jet lag and the culture shock.

Even if some of them turn to be rubbish they will still look nice sitting in your humidor mate. You will have to review that redot cohiba seen that a few times
