I had one last Monday and could absolutely use some more time. They're all branded with ABR- SEP 2015 box codes but if I can remember, they were rolled back in 2014 while Cuba awaited the boxes.

Regardless, they're going to benefit quite a lot from another 6-48 months of ageing. Okay cigar right now but nowhere near worth their price / rarity at this current moment.

I suppose it's just how life goes. For example, the LGC MdO No. 1, 2, 3, and 4s all come in 8-9-8 format but only the No. 2 is the Lonsdale size.
Partagas had the 898 Unvarnished which switched to the Varnished 898 in (02? 04?) which is a Lonsdale size and layered 8-9-8. The Partagas 898 also comes in a formation of (10 box) so that's another catch...
There's also a Ramon Allones 3-4-3 Grandes regional from Spain which to my knowledge is the only box to be officially called "3-4-3".

That's just reflective of Cuba in general: their inconsistencies.

Jeremy I've seen some very old boxes of partagas 898 varnished. I don't think they changed the unvarnished to varnished, both were around and they deleted the unvarnished. Yes?

Plus, the RA 898 is a stone cold cracker right now. I know it's just a matter of opinion though but I love them

I must admit I wasn't blown away by the German 898, I still have a couple of singles but based on the first I'm glad I didn't dive straight into a box
