I?m not a huge fan of the Partagas alphabet series but i know they are popular so I continue to try to find something I really like, this time it?s a couple of fivers of E2?s.
I?ve heard they are the Connie A?s of the Partagas line which is high praise indeed in my book so I?ve given them a shot.

These are young so you may smoke a D4 before I do but I will let you know. The Lusitania is amazing, definitely in my top 5 favourite smokes, 8-9-8’s are great too. The D4 has never blown me away but I’ve never had a bad one either, they are extremely popular however so perhaps they are just not for me.Originally posted by Tomm783 View PostLook good, let us know how they are - I’ve just got hold of some D4’s and have Lusitania’s on the way so interested to know if these are worth acquiring.

Very nice addition Alex! I've never tried one but I have to say that I'm a huge fan of all Partagas with the classic bands, the other ones not so much except for an aged P2. I know a lot of people like the D series but they are not my cup of tea.

Thanks Mike. I think my tastes are the same as yours when it comes to Partagas, I’m happy to give 10 a shot though.Originally posted by gojira View PostVery nice addition Alex! Well made sticks these. Too fat for my liking. Very earthy flavor. No sweetness at all in them IIRC. I've a couple more sitting around. Let us know what you make of em!

It certainly looks that way!Originally posted by Alexw33 View PostThanks Mike. I think my tastes are the same as yours when it comes to Partagas, I’m happy to give 10 a shot though.
You can always unload them if they aren't to your liking.
To be fair, earlier this year I purchased a couple of singles of the D4 (GUT SEP 13) and I smoked one. It wasn't a bad smoke, much better than the 5 or the 6 but it's not something I would purchased a box off. I have too many regular production holes to fill first.

They are fatter than I prefer (40-46 RG) but variety is the spice of life and all thatOriginally posted by ha_banos View PostWell made sticks these. Too fat for my liking. Very earthy flavor. No sweetness at all in them IIRC. I've a couple more sitting around. Let us know what you make of em!

I’m not a huge Robusto fan to be honest which may be part of my indifference to the D4, as we both know it’s all about the LonsdalesOriginally posted by gojira View PostIt certainly looks that way!

I wouldn’t buy a box either but I have half a dozen or so in my humi.
Holes in your collection? You’re the man who has everything! What are the top priorities?

Thanks Greg. I’ll let you know but you may be waiting a while, these are only a few months old so will be getting some rest.Originally posted by thedame007 View PostNice little double dose of Partagas trouble there, Alex! I’m hearing more and more about them- though my growing distrust of Partagas holds me back. I’d love to hear your thoughts when you smoke ‘em!
Growing distrust of Partagas? Does that extend to the classic line too, I thought I recalled you enjoying a Lusitania recently?

Well my buds are rarely tickled by Partagas - I have had a couple of Lusi’s and they were pleasant smokes but they do not come close to the hoyo DC’s or the RAG’a, or the stupendous Don Alejandro! That said they’re meant to get better and better with age so I do have a couple of boxes! D4s and 8-9-8’s which are the favourite of many are total meh for me...Originally posted by Alexw33 View PostThanks Greg. Only the impossible is worth the effort.
