While browsing some NC cigar reviews on American sites, I came across a review of a cigar called 'My Uzi Weighs a Ton' by Drew Estate.

I suppose that this branding is supposed to appeal to American gun / cigar lovers - the giant band with 'My Uzi Weighs a Ton' in huge capital letters did make me laugh. Has anyone ever been 'bombed' with or tried one of these?

Not had one myself but AFAIK you shouldn't be fooled by the name. It's a solid cigar from a reputable manufacturer. The story goes like this:

Their quirky name stems from Drew Estate founder Jonathan Drew's favorite 6 x 60 vitola, lovingly called it his "Uzi." Picking up a wheel of them, he exclaimed, "Damn, my UZI weighs a TON!"

It's also a line in a Public Enemy song.

Unfortunately I've not been bombed with one. The title is a bit 'tongue in cheek' and intended to do exactly what it did .... make you smile. By all BOTL account's they're exceptionally good and because they're made in short supply, very much sought after.

Hmmmm...interesting. I appreciate the novelty of the branding, and I'm sure that they might taste very nice, but I'm not that fond of 60+ jaw-breaking ring guages, or convinced by the logic that wider=better. I'd be happy to give one a try though...and I'd keep the band on just for comedy value.

I find larger ring gauge cigars like a car with all the toys like abs, traction control, auto etc, they make for a very easy effortless smoke, you have to really push it to overheat and go bitter. A Slimmer smoke is like an old-school motor, rear wheel drive, manual, no computer assist, you have to work much harder with the package but when you hit the sweet spot the rewards are far greater

To answer your question, I have yet to try any of these uniquely named brands.

That's a nice way of putting it ! I don't know, I just find that you're more likely to really appreciate the flavours if you have to pay a bit of attention to what you're smoking. Plus I'm not sure that a cigar with a 60 ring guage is that much easier to smoke than a cigar with a 55 ring guage, and I don't like the idea of some of my favourite thinner sticks being phased out in favour of Wide Churchills!

What a great way of putting it,very apt Same story here,never got anywhere near these or the Liga Privada/Undercrowns etc.I'd certainly hope to try one at some point because they certainly get some very positive reviews.

I've had several of these fat boys and must admit that, albeit a decent smoke, it's the kewl band that's most appealing.
