I think it was happening throughout North America and Europe, but no doubt it was mostly centered in the good ol' USA....with all the celebrity types sparking up back then! Lots of not-so-good sticks popping up back then at extraordinary prices...which, in the waning years of the boom, could be purchase at a bargin (Anybody remember the Sinatra torpedoes that were be sold at a deep discount?) One of the few "boutique" cigar manufacturers to survive was Indiana Tobac, which I adored.

Anyway, towards the end of the boom, if memory serves, the Cubans starting rushing their puors to market before the leaf was ready to cash in on the boom. As a result, the quality of the Habanos went way down until the middle of 2002, when they started to focus on quality over quantity. But before then, they produced a lot of mediocre sticks.

Anyhow, that's how I remember it.

First Bing Crosby, now Frank Sinatra?

Frankie has a torpedo? Is that why there was a U-Boat (or something that looked like it) in one of the covers of "Ol' Man River"
            ....Sorry, i'll stop
Yes yes, the big fat blokes in the USA who do radio shows and what not. Also, Clint Eastwood. Good on them. Like how Stalin used to smoke a pipe, so all officers in the Red Army would take up pipe smoking to avoid the NKVD (or so they hoped).

That boom also does explain why some people think this Beauty wasn't as cracked up as it could've been in the year 2000. And 10 000 jars? There's no reason why there should be twice as many of these than there are of any reservas.
But know what? If everyone's quality was winding down, methinks the Habanos standard was still acheived, relative to the other cigars on the market of course. It's all relative in the end.......

So let me get this straight - we have over 2500 members of which at least 35 have viewed this thread, and no one has ever heard of the once popular "My Way" boutique cigar?

This is a cigar forum, right?

Dios mio! I'm either in the wrong room and It's Autumn in NY!

May i say, not in a shy way:
Oh no, oh no, not me. (I did it my way.)

Also, with all the bloody NCs floating out of the whazoo, I can barely keep track..
That mixed with the fact that Sinatra died the year after wouldn't get them too much creds. Ya know, family not wanting his name to be used to market shite.
