  • Padron Maduros

Loving maduros and hearing very good things about Padrons I've bought the following (not received yet though) :

    1926 No. 1 Maduro

    Family Reserve 45 Maduro
    Family Reserve 46 Maduro
    Family Reserve 50 Maduro
    1964 Princepe Maduro

They're not particularly cheap but I'm hoping they're as good as they're made out to be. Anyone had any of these / any thoughts on them?

The 1964 Principe was a very good smoke for its size, it was my first Padron and I was very impressed I got one with a decent draw but just be careful with the draw on some of these, they can be a proper wind-tunnel sometimes; I find a smaller cut is better than a bigger one with Padrons
Talking of cuts, also watch out for their damn single caps, for some reason they insist on single caps instead of triple caps and most of the time I end up cutting past it Stupid and pointless idea from Padron but there you go; anyway matey I hope you enjoy them, I'm very jealous of your selection!

Thanks for the info Matt. really looking forward to trying these. I'll watch out for the cap issue, hate to spoil it by the wrapper unravelling!

Had the 1926 and 1964 lines. Both very nice, I'd have to say the 1926 is a step above the 1964 though. Nice as they are, I have yet to have one which sets my world alight in the manner that Americans (especially at Cigar Aficionado) would have us believe they should...

Glad you enjoyed the 1964 Maduro, I tried one not so long ago and was very disappointed with it found it very one dimensional with a lite draw.

Yeah I think they're a bit hit and miss with the draw etc but if you like full-on chocolate and spice, almost like a chilli chocolate then you'll probably like them Enjoy matey!

I had a few Padrons before. The first I had was a conneticut wrapper 1964. It was absolutely fantastic and one of the best smokes I ever had. The others I tried were pure pepper and not much else. Pretty much unsmokable. The problem, age. Padrons are great but just like CC, they need to rest for a few years. They are powerful so the longer you can put them away, the better.

Buy them, try them, if they are not good to smoke, put them away for 3 years and then give them another try.
