  • Cigars from the Philippines

    Hey guys,

Anyone tried any cigars from the Philippines before? They seem ridiculously cheap for hand made cigars. Is it worth picking up a few, or even a box?

    Cheers,
    Dave

Smoked a Flor de Filipinas Maduro Torpedo last Saturday, construction can be a bit hit and miss but the flavour was good,

I was looking at the Flor de Filipinas long filler range, also the Antonio Gimenez brand. Not sure if anyone's got experience with either?

Might just be worth picking up a load of singles.

These would be my first NCs - do I need to keep these in a separate humidor? (tupperdore)

I've had a few Flor de Feilipina maduros too. They weren't bad sticks for the money, I quite enjoyed them.

Independencia 1898 are pretty good and a little googling shows they do a half and a double corona, a pyramides, and a robusto. I've not tried them all but would recommend them as mild to medium (though there's the odd one that has a kick). They're, on average, well made, and whilst not totally different, definitely have a particular aroma that isn't Cuban but also isn't Latin American "NC".

DIL is Filipino ... Last time she went home her dad gave her a selection of cigars to give me .

don urquijo I believe ( might have been don urquito ) .

not bad cigars ... Pretty mild ( but then so are Cuban cigars ) ... 5 different sizes ... Panetella was the one I liked the most .
