• From the Canaries

Morning folks, I hope everyone is enjoying the weather.

I've been offered a bundle of 25 cigars from the Canary Islands (another gent from my work has a few boxes lying about)!

I've seen that there's a thread from 2012 on these type of cigars but people may know more now... does anyone know if they're any good or not?

If there's a lack of knowledge in the forum I'll purchase one... or the box off him and give a little review. In the interest of errr... science!

On a side note - I asked him how he's stored them and isn't in a humi . It raises the question of how many people have boxes of (premium) cigars sat at home drying out?!

I'd get sight of them... if they have been sat in his sock drawer then they might be in pretty rough order, no matter what their provenance. There are relativley few that are made to not be humidified...

I've just come back from Tenerife. Every shop has shelves of dry cured cheap Canarian cigars for sale, they do not require humidifying, and they don't cost very much either! if you're getting them for a song they might be your taste or keep them for hand 'em outs. There are premium Canarian cigars available but they tend to get sold in specialised cigar shops where they are kept in humidors.

          Impressive, thanks PJ.
Once he gets back to me with some details and pictures i'll post them up on here, may ask him for one to try and if I do like it then i'll fork out for the bundle. No brand snobbery within me - if it's good, it's good!

Good attitude. They're sold in cellophane wrapped bundles or really cheap wooden boxes so easy to spot.

So they would have been almost puros many many years ago.

TJCoro I saw that thread and wanted to know if there was any further information in the past 5 years. Also, I didn't know whether to post in there and dredge up that or post a fresh one... I chose the latter.

That thread is strangely similar to this as the same gent offering me the canaries is going to Fuerteventura shortly and has offered to pick up some cigars for me

Probably the right move, I'm sure there's some forum etiquette about not resurrecting zombie threads but what do I know?

Sorry, chico....not meant as an attack on you. To the contrary, I was quite impressed with your archival research before posting up.

I linked the original thread for those who might be interested in what some of the old-timers were saying on the subject 5 years ago....or before se?or PJ hit puberty!

Didn't take it as an attack, but I always have to explain myself!!
Also, in light of this thread, I think I'll get the bundle off him to try and/or share.
