My favourite one Big J. Good smoking time, around 45 minutes , great great flavours, loads of smoke, what more can you ask for.

Just saw this post on Twitter from Sam and thought I would share it with LeeNubadub and the Nubster All-stars:

Can't wait till Deano gets the Smell-around upgrade.

Well, I can answer my own question

1 x Connecticut Torpedo down - fantasic (fat) stick!

Even burn, great flavour, very smooth... one I suspect will go very well while supervising the BBQ and/or charcoal smoker in the summer.

And that in my opinion is the least flavoursome, wait till you try the Cameroon and Habano

Still have to try Nub's. Just ordered a dozen NC's but no Nub's included.

I saw somewhere in the forum that Nubs are not that good compared to Cubans or even other finer non cubans.

What's the ultimate selling point of these short looking sticks? amount of smoke, draw, flavour?

They have been designed to hit the "Sweet Spot" as soon as you light up.
A lot of non cubans take at least an inch before the better flavours develop, Sam spent time researching , deconstructing and experimenting with tobacco leaves and blending techniques before he came up with his perfect ring gauge and length.

Beacuse of the larger ring gauge, they tend to burn cooler and thats what gives them the great flavour.

There are several ring gauges, from 56 up 66 and so far 4 wrappers,

                            Connecticut
                            Cameroon
                            Habano
                            Maduro

With 2 further wrappers coming out this year,

                            Cain F
                            Miami

I dont like to compare NC'S to cubans, each has its place both with smokers and me personaly. I like to smoke both, but am intrigued by the amount of non cubans available. They are by no means inferior, there are some very low cost ones which obviously are, but some of the Nc's are as good, if not better than some cubans. After my first Nub i was hooked, both on the cigars , and the whole Nub culture that is springing up.

Well I can't offer much help with the NUBs I'm afraid, although I couldn't resist responding vis a vis the Dukes!

I bought a box of 10 about a week ago and I lit up my first one late Sunday evening. I really should write up a full review ASAP, but all in all I found lots of coffee and chocolate notes, a bit of spice and overall, an excellent smoke indeed. However, during the final third it started to show its age a bit and I found it became a touch bitter. Not all that nice at all I'm afraid. Ultimately though, it was definitely saved by the first 2/3 which were absolutely excellent.

Right now I'm thinking of A) Letting them settle in a humi for a few more weeks regardless or B) Simply laying them down for a good few years! If you get a good box - and by way of aroma I'm fairly contented with mine - then I'm sure there's a lot to be said for ageing them.

I'd be really interested to know what you find!

I like your views. i definitely agree on the NC and CC side. The number of NC's is also what makes it so interesting and makes you want to try them all

I also like the way you call the President/founder/MD of Nub "Sam" as if you two were sharing a flat in Hounslow

As so many other NC's, Nub's are something I would love to try before I leave this planet.

If you know of a good place to find some examples of these for a decent price, please let me know. maybe PM me would be ideal...

Thanks anyways for the great presentation about your favourite cigar, it was very instructive!
