    The Recommendation!

Thanks for the recommendations, senor soulman.

I'm a big fan of the Mag 46 (and 50) and the RASS. So I'll certainly try the two you suggested (El Triumfador and the Havana VI Nobles) the next time I'm in the states.

    Muchas Gracias, Amigo

Hey el Perro! He seems like a nice man, doesn't he.

(Ahem!) He sure does, virgin boy....he sure does, indeed!

                  Happy Monday!
Just a quick update on this.

I've had four of the Tatuaje line, and I'd say that half of them are excellent.

The Havan VI Nobles that I had was quite good--it had that tanginess that good Cubans have, and I enjoyed it all the way through. The construction was solid, and I didn't have to relight. There wasn't a lot of development, and only a slight pepperiness to it, but I didn't really care because I loved the flavor all the way to the nub, and for me, that is what counts. As well, there was an excellent after taste that lasted quite a while.

The El Triumfador, in terms of flavor, was even better. It had that same tanginess and a mellow version of that sweet spiciness of a RASS. I thought it to be a cross between the aforementioned RASS and a Mag 46. It's only drawback was that it burned a bit hot and uneven.

The Miami line that I had (don't know which one, alas) was a bit of a disappointment. It looked beautiful and smoked well, though it canoed a couple of times. The issue, and in my book this is always the ultimate issue, was the flavor profile. It started out with a strong peppery flavor and it just stayed there. In my limited experience, this is one of the drawbacks of strong nc's--you get pummeled by pepper and there's not much more to the story. It's all strength and no art. As such, I didn't get any of that tasty, umami-like tanginess of the other two, and so I would only go back to this line with trepidation and limited expenditure.

The Cabaiguan is to be missed. It has little of any of the above merits, other than a nice construction. In a word, it's boring. I have one more in the tupperdor that I'll give a go, but I would not recommend it.

I have a few more from this line on the way, but tonight I'm off to the tobacconist to see if I can replicate my El Triumfador experience with a friend at a local cigar bar. More later....

The Tat Noellas is my favourite so far of any of Pete Johnson's brands and I've tried quite a few, although have to give a special mention to the El Triumfador brand in a lancero size (off the original blend), absolutely gorgeous!!!

The size on the Havana Angels P C should not be disgarded ! The size packs as much flavoe and punch as any 1 in the Havana VI line !
I just split a box of the Havana VI Artistas and burned through 6 of the 13 i got. This is the line for a man in the know and is to me 1 of Tats better Tasting cigars the next is the Havana Nobles split !

                        Number 2...number 2....number 2....

Got me hands on a Tatuaje Reserva J21 tonight (also picked up a Cain F).

The J21 was much better than the first Tatuaje I tried - lots of peppery taste in the beginning, then settled down to a nice velvety, mild to medium smoke. Beautiful wrapper, ash, with a bit of a loose draw.

I will soon try some of the others you lads have recommended soon.
