hi all I have a falcon extra straight pipe and I don't like how it looks, I have been looking online but simply cant afford a new one but then I came across a site that says that a falcon pipe can be bent and twisted into shapes and still be fine to smoke the pictures show one bent into a corkscrew and others bent onto curves I was wondering if anyone has ever had this done or even better anyone who knows how to do this. its this sort of thing

also I have seen somewhere that the bowls can be re done up and painted if anyone can help please let me know.

You will need something to go inside the tubes to prevent the tubes from loosing their cylindrical shape when bending them.

I had not thought of that but when I think about it of course you will other wise it will just collapse

I'd take the main tube out, replace it with a metal rod then twist around that.

to be honest my cigars always come first and trying to stock a few sticks in for xmas. im hoping to get a new pipe in the new year im thinking of an aldo morelli ,my pipe is important don't get me wrong

Falcon's are definately the marmite of pipe smoking. I've got an 'extra' model myself, and love it although I don't use it all the time. I've found it is one of the few 'system' or 'technology' pipes that actually does what it says on the box, the aluminium shaft cools the smoke (which can be judged from the heat that eminates from it), while the removable bowl makes it a dream to clean, and the 'moat' design at the bottom of the bowl does a great job of collecting tar and moisture (even without the neat little pads you can buy to place in the bottom). Best of all, it is a relatively cheap pipe for the quality of smoking that you get with it.

But yes, for lovers of carved briar it will not set the pulse racing. A compromise would be the more traditional looking 'international' models that still use the inter-changable bowls but have more normal stems. In fact if it is the stem that is bothering you, you can get an additional 'international' stem and keep your current bowl to save a few quid.

My favourite pipe remains a fairly cheap Peterson 306 'system' model with an army mount (although again the 'p-lip' divides opinion), but I always enjoy the Falcon when it gets used (particularly good for moist or hot aromatics I find).

An inch long piece of clean pipe cleaner does the job just as well.
