So my adventures into the land of pipe smoking has not started well, all i seem to have got is tongue bite.
The cherry and vanilla smells nice but i couldnt smoke it if i puffed hard it bit, puff lightly no smoke and it goes out.

Moved on to the balkan, not much aroma in the bag, on smoking it is very salty and tastes like bbq, a little less bite than the first one but to get any good amount of smoke i have to puff harder and the bit is back

It's not for everyone but you don't know till you give it a go! All I'd say is aromatics are prone to tongue bite. Try some Dunhill 965 a good first tobacco.

Lots of smoke isn't always a good thing. I puff hard to start just to get it going. Your pack might be s bit tight as well. Try packing looser in the bottom and not tamping as much.

Believe me when I say, keep at it. I got so frustrated with Pipe Smoking I could easily have given up, there is a learning curve that simply isn't there with cigars... When you finally crack it, you will know its worth it!

Oh and try drying out the tobacco, get the bit your intending to pack and spread it out on a square of paper and leave it out for 30-40 mins. Different people either prefer dryer or wetter.

I only tried the cherry and vanilla tonight, which has burnt the hell out of my tongue lol is there anything I can do to reduce that?

Having said that, I quite enjoyed the packing (watched a few videos) and some of the flavours from the tobacco.

I'm going to try the Irish cream tomorrow

I think I would like to try pipe smoking but tbh I can't be arsed to learn atm. Plus if I take up pipe smoking, in my mind I'm taking another step to becoming an old man

While the aromatics might seem like a good place to start it is absolutely the worst place for a beginner as they burn hot and nasty. Don't puff hard if you have to you've packed too tight. Try Sam Gawiths Firedance flake if you like berries in your baccy - and you still have to go easy with that one.
