New in the baccy jar

I picked up a 50g tin of Rattray's Red Rapparee yesterday. As I got it out of the shop I noticed a ring of dust under the lip (the rest of the tin had been wiped clean) and wondered whether it must have a bit of age on it. Popped the cap...

Stained paper insert and the waxed inner was all tainted too

Smelled divine, (tangy, saucy) and a few strands of the black cavendish had teeny little white crystalline spots on them. I suspect this is a few years old already[emoji4] Had a bowl yesterday and it's mighty fine[emoji5]️

That ancient shop that only opens whenever the guy feels like it that's at the bottom of my road is more pipe shop than a cigar place. I might go back in now I have a pipe. Is there much mark up from online shopping?

That's a lively find I'd go back and see if he has anything else and don't open it if he has , just make sure the seals are intact and no tiny holes anywhere in the tin [emoji106] [emoji106] [emoji106]

Well, this is a Stanwell Calabash.... I have been wanting a Calabash for ages and this was too cheap to let go.

But then this came up.... It's a Hand Made Bjorn Turmann Fatboy and its huge, the grain is gorgeous in the flash..... And it was less than the price of a Monte A. So in for a penny and all that.

Briar pipes are a work of art different shapes ..different sizes.. different finishes can become an obsession in buying them if not carefull.

Not quite new in the jar..... But new Jars!

?2 for 4 in Asda, so ?8 got me 16. They are not so big but they hold a standard Pouch worth almost perfectly, like they were made for it.

They appear to be. They fasten tight and the inside of the lid has a slight rubber texture almost like gasket material.

If they don't turn out to be I will indeed make some gaskets for them.
