The above is a Kilner jar containing Dunhill Nightcap.

It was purchased in a tin and immediately upon opening i transferred it to the jar. How long can I reasonably expect it to keep whilst smoking a bowl or 2 every week from it? I am not asking how long till I run out, I mean how long till it goes "off" or however you would describe it.

If I purchase more before the jar runs out is it a good idea to just top it up and give it a shake or is it more sensible to wait till completely empty and maybe give it a wash before refilling?

    Thanks guys

If you keep it in the dark and not near heat should last indefinately unopened and full , as your smoking it weekly it will certainly last for the duration , when it runs down sure top it up from a new tin

In the dark! I hadn't thought of that. So what we talking, 6 months to a year and should be ok?

Built in handles. Put the doors on the wall cupboards the same orientation as the floor ones. Made sense at the time so everything looked the same. Only twigged when I was pulling at the bottom of the cupboard and happened to look up. Oh right that's the handles up there near the ceiling.

Many tobacconists keep bulk tobacco in the old style sweet jars not dissimilar to a kilner. They keep theirs for years and Top up as needed. I have one jar of black and Brown that's been in a cupboard half full in a sealed kilner jar for a couple years, I had forgotten about it and found it a couple week's ago and that seems perfectly fine.

Kilner are good jars. Avoid the Ikea ones as they tend to have a poor seal. Dowe Egberts coffee jars are good!
