  • Trying again in earnest...

I have always wanted to return to the pipe from trying it many years ago. Was too impatient and probably just not ready to enjoy it.

So taking the opportunity of a Parker London briar (of which I'm very impressed) I've decided to try again. Probably at this mid point of the walk on this mortal coil I've now got the patience.

Arrived this morning and it feels great. I'll be taking a walk to RobertGrahams in the city centre tomorrow for an exploration of what they have.

And having my late grandfathers pipe knife/ tamper to use makes it even more special.

I'll drop a line when I've tried it out a few times.

Thanks. Really looking forward to the first bowl. It'll be a couple times a month probably as cigars are still my first choice..... but ....

Huzzah, welcome to this little corner of our forum! My mother (playfully) mocked me as a natural born pipe smoker from pretty much childhood, but it took until these last few years to get my act together, and it turns out she was right all along.

Good luck to you and I hope Robert Graham has something delicious to try.

Welcome to the dark side, the staff at robert Graham are very helpful and I'm sure you'll find something you'll like. I'm in Glasgow on Friday for a meeting and may just pop along there myself

Common sense is not a gift, it's a punishment as you have to deal with everyone who doesn't have it!

Was in there myself yesterday and picked up a tin of firedance on the wee wifeys recommendation. My first "proper" cigar was from their old shop down near central station after my fifth year exams at school. They must have thought I was a right pretentious wee chump, especially in me tweed jacket!

I went in with a colleague from work, picked up some revor plug and some gh balkan mix. My colleague picked a nice hip flask

It'll probably be this Friday I visit. Caught a great deal on an apartment in Malaga for five days. One minute from beach. Deserted and very cigar friendly. Weather been ok and scorchio today. (RIP Paula Fish).

Way to rub it in, the dank weather here. Seriously though, it sounds like a good and timely break for vitamins D and N

An opening time visit to RGs this morning and helpful staff as ever.

Two tins , a new lighter dedicated to the art and some cleaners.

The knife and tamper were my grandfathers
