Bought a little sampler of this straight Virginia, its a cut plug into flakes, lovely brown flake with some very bright spots. The smell is honey sweet with a hint of citrus orangey lemon type hit but this is only a faint hit certainly a very light topping.
Flake breaks nicely and packs even better, and takes to the flame exceptionally well this whole bowl only needed three lights that was it.
For a straight Virginia it didn't burn too hot either warm toasty but certainly not hot hot. Initial flavour on lighting grassy but with the honey sweetness rounding the sour/bitterness you can get from grassy flavours. As it goes the grassiness is less pronounced and honey slightly stronger though always as an enhancement to the natural Virginia sweetness.
The retrohale is where this thing comes to life in a big way, the retrohale brings to the front the citrus cesty orange lemon mixed with the grassy honey flavours all complimenting each other in a superb manner. Its a bright sweet blend perfect for warm bright weather.
As the bowl progresses the citrus appears in the normal inhale and stronger in the retro along with a the final component of sweet bread but just a hint of sweet bread. Making this an incredible straight Virginia full of flavour more than any straight I've had, its sweet and bright and citrus, with very mild grass and hints of bread.
Smoked it in my church warden and in terms of bite most I got was a bit of heat on the tip of my tongue but reminiscent of cinnamon heat which if pushed I can see biting but I by no means went slow but nor did I speed run this.
Meaning I think this may do fine with those of us who puff at a moderate pace. This filled the garden with a lovely aroma sweet citrus spice and of course tobacco, after taste in the mouth is lemon bready which is interesting.
Well for me this beats out Orlik, and compliments HH with HH and Fribourg and Treyer in joint first place as straight Virginia.
However this gets a few extra points for being available a solid 4.8/ 5
