  • Revor Plug

So gave this a go after many told me its one of those ones to try at least once. Its been in use for over a century now I know some debate and say this is a Latakia, Kentucky and Virginia blend.

However GH and other tobacconist including the sponsor here tell me its just straight Kentucky and Virginia with a pinch of floral essence perhaps........

Being a sensitive to Latakia (I enjoy it but can normally detect it straight off) I couldn't really smell it on the unlit plug or more accurately the briquette, as its the easiest plug I've ever dealt with.

Anyway unlit, yes the Kentucky smokiness is there but as I often find with Kentucky its a more BBQ food smoke than the wood smoke if you get NY meaning and then the fruity rasin bread of a Virginia let's see how she smokes.

This sampler came quite dry unusual for GH but gave it 5 anyway, it took the light nicely requiring about 3-4 relights. The smoke is cool and boom yep smokiness followed by woodsy grassy notes interesting, on the retro you get a slightly burnt hot cross bun taste is the best way I can describe it followed by floral spicy notes damn thats nice.

This continues and if you push it the smoky note increases but it doesn't get over hot and bitter but rather those spicy notes get more pronounced, and then boom a salty BBQ meaty like flavour enters the game complimenting the prior flavours. I should note these flavours are not nuanced they are bold and powerful its easily one of the most cigar like blends I've had.

You can see why its benn around for over a century and boom final thing she packs one hell of a nic hit, I mean this isnt an all day smoke, this is I've had a long ass week and I need to unplug with some Revor and let the complexity and cool creamy smoky woody raisin spicy sweet with a BBQ salty sweetness just envelop you.

Its a damned good smoke, flavourful, room note is pleasant to the Mrs who said its like a BBQ as its cooking with an unknown or combo of things grilling on it. So its gets a pass, though I'd say its better as one enjoyed outside and perfect for the wet and autumnal weather though honestly any hard day regardless of weather will suit this smoke.

Its tremendous I can't fault it, but as I say not an all day. Well there you go if you never tried it try it, if you like it you'll keep it in rotation for those hard days when a good quality cigar smoke is required from your pipe.

    Would highly recommend.
