So finally tried this one, after all back in the day it was a favourite of Lewis of course it was somewhat different back then, being a Vaper and today its a Virginia and Kentucky, so out of the bag its sweetish but midly so and an almost nutty smokiness but more nutty than smokey and honestly this is a massive surprise as Kentucky doesnt normally have that smell of it to me so interesting. Now this was in my Old gentleman Pipe,
It light really easily, and then boom, shes nutty smokey and has that smell of what I remember the old Newspaper men stands smelt like, thats a good thing as its a smell that reminds of much simpler times and how much things have changed since 1994 when I remember that smell in the City Centre as they would yell the edition of the paper out. Its nice if not an overcomplicated smoke, now reading about the original and how better it used to be.
A thought occured to me as this was a good smoke for an OTC blend, what if I added a little of C&D Sunday Picnic to this, just a small amount just to get some perique and oriental into this, so I did, and boom stone plum fruitiness added to the mix, and now a beautiful spice element added to that nutty smokiness, an incredible first rate smoke like one of the best Ive had, I smoked the bowl right down to complete ash, it never got over hot, nor cigarettey, just that classic Newspaper man Kentucky smokiness with fruity spiciness, beautiful enjoyable and just an incredible mix to really lift this once legendary blend back into that category at least in my opinion.
I was pleasantly surprised by three nuns, and its good on its own but add some of that Sunday Picnic to it, superb really incredible smoke.
