Nice Yeti, I'd like an air still. Where abouts in the world are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm not sure of the rules regarding distilling alcohol here in the UK. I think i read something once about being able to register that you distil for personal consumption or something. Have to look into it again

Take 24ltrs of water, add 6kg sugar , a bag of activated charcoal, and tripple distilled yeast and leave for 20 days

Bing!! you have 15% alcohol, drain it off and put it through an air still nets you 5ltrs of raw 45-55% alcohol cut it down to 33%, triple filter it through activated carbon to get rid of any nasties once you've filtered 3 times ou can either add essences, or:

As I do now take an Oak barrel (20 ltr size) with a hole cut in the top, get a Muslin bag and add, Vanilla pods, Oak chips soaked in molases, star anisse, cinamon, nutmeg, a little ginger, a small amount of chilli and some cloves.

Leave for 3 months and get trashed on something truly wonderful

Mr Teri. I do love a good rum, prefer dark rum like OVD. I take it yours is somewhat inbetween.

Just looked at the eBay link. A lot of money for some steel pots and plastic hose. DIY all the way.

Still to investigate this but would love to grow my own wheat, hops and grapes. I think yeast take a bit of investigating also. I just think it would be great to do it fully home brew. Greenhouse required me thinks.
