  • any bourbon drinkers?

    hey all,
recently i've been exploring scotch whisky, i've found my palette has developed enough to appreciate it more! now i'm interested in revisiting bourbon!! over the last handful of years, i've tried bulleit, woodford reserve, wild turky, buffalo trace....... all around or under ?30!! any more recommended in this price range? has anyone tried maker's mark? i saw it recently for ?20 in an off license i normally get my monte 4's from.........

    thanks in advance

I have more expensive tastes for Bourbon, if you can get to try any Pappy Van Winkle go for it, divine nectar they are! The prices range from ?50.00 upto ?100's though and as rare as rocking horse poop.
My more goto drink is Eagle Rare - http://www.weedram.co.uk/selectedpro...usa%20-bourbon
?45.00 a bottle but very good.
Makers Mark isn't too bad, or Wild Turkey.

Bourbon is my drink...and I love it...aggressively! Makers mark is alright, but I think woodford is your best value at that price range (it's my "stock" bourbon). Knob Creek is worth a punt at the ?30 mark.

Smokey...I am desperate to try Pappy Van Winkle 23yo! ?300 it's going for last time I checked!

Love it too. I don't think you can beat Woodford Reserve for the price. Coming in a bit steeper is Noah's Mill - a favourite of mine, at around ?50. I currently have a bottle of the sister "Rowan's Creek" ?40ish which is also lovely, but not quite as good.

I tried the old rip van winkle 10 year old a year or so ago, but was slightly worse for wear at the time and really can't recall it all too well!! How've you found them?

I really like Gentleman Jack (made by JD) find it very smooth. I enjoy it more than their single barrel, which is much more expensive. I find it too strong, IMO.

Cool thread, I normally have cognac but would love to try some reasonably priced bourbon.
