    hey all,
bought this in tesco's tonight, ?22!!! just worked my way through a third of it with some beer (san miguel 'fresca'), after a shitty week dealing with 'er indoors and the CSA..... great stuff indeed!! too intoxicated to give a review right now, but have to say it's great stuff indeed!! christmas in a bottle was my first thoughts!! had it with a bolivar BF and RC, paired up perfectly!!! will review this properly on friday.......

I'll admit before I go any further that whisky is not my drink of preference, I'll drink bourbon just fine but I really have to be in the mood for whisky and I typically like a malt rather than a blend. Tried the black, tried the green and the red and I just didn't like them. But to each their own man, glad you're enjoying it and that sounds like a pretty good deal.

I love the stuff! Shame it's been discontinued! I might have to snap a load up at ?22 a bottle!

Not often I disagree with you on whisky Alex but this time, although I personally think, Green is the best of the JW coloured offerings..it's still too dear even when they virtually give it away in duty free..
Cheapest I saw was 3 litres in a smart carry case for 35 euros....just about worth it...

Aye. I have to say that somethings a tad off as well...... Even about the blue label. It's just too "harsh" I guess. And when it's $250 for the blue and $80 for green? It'll have me feeling blue and green!

Anyways I'm surprised you do enjoy it Alex. I guess it is for the best...... For your wallet
Or even when you travel and its one of the only drinks (besides the standard vodka, gin, rum, etc setup) they have in stock! Its hilarious sometimes watching the Brits here painstakingly choke down Chivas Regal after going to a liquor unconscious pub.

lol, cheers guys!!! i read good things about it during the week and thought, what the hell!!

dave, as you well know, i've got good taste when it comes to whisk(e)y!! far from dropping my standards, i thought i'd try it as the price was right (usually it's ?30, it's ?40+ on the whisky exchange), i thought it was pretty good!! saying that, the last proper bottle of scotch i bought was bruichladdich's cuvee 640 (cognac finish)...... that one was special, but cost damn near ?90!!

jeremy, don't worry...... i don't intend to let my taste buds down!! i've still high standards when it comes to whisk(e)y!! lol!! i'll be finding the money to to treat myself when i need to!!

roll on friday for the proper review......

I usually sway towards bourbon rather than scotch, but the Red Label's not bad. Never even knew there was a green label. I thought there was only the red, black and blue.

The green label was supposed to be discontinued but has been put on hold it was supposed to be superseded by the gold label however after meeting a rep at a trade fair they put it on hold the green label if I remember rightly is a blend of 3 single malt distilleries I have a bottle on the bar at the golf club any my pub finished off my own bottle I enjoyed it it's far better than the red of which I have a gallon bottle on optics at work and also much better than the peaty black label as you say I rushed out and picked up half a dozen when it was suddenly reduced by wait ties to ?20 from ?36 excellent value

Never been a fan of JW, except for the Platinum label which is smooth and sweet and perhaps just about worth the price tag.
