To accompany a good cigar, red wine can bring out some of the best qualities of your favourite stick.
May i suggest (for those who haven't discovered) an Argentinian Melbec.

Having tried a variety of wines using my Naked Wines account, I was offered a bottle from Argentina, it was a Melbec. I couldn't say no to a free bottle and I'm glad i didn't.
I have always thought a nice Merlot compliments a good cigar as for the other options i find some can be overpowering and best served with food. Melbec seems built for drinking along with food and or smoking.
You just really have to try one to appreciate what I'm saying, I don't spend time talking about the aroma's, I only know what's good for me but I'm sure you wont be dissapointed. I am going to trace through my account and find the one i had sent, although so far it's been rare to drink one i don't like.

As a side note to this, i didn't realise how much time i had wasted drinking wine from a normal pub sized wine glass. This does nothing for the wine, so in short, go get yourself a big, good quality wine glass and if you really care about the drink, a decanter is a must to.

    I love a Malbec!

Get down to Tesco and grab yourself a bottle Bodega Monte Real Malbec Shiraz, I stumbled across this accidentaly a long time ago and it is beautiful and currently half price!

Although I do think I got into Malbec through my love for steak and not cigars they do pair beautifuly!

I agree in part On decanting, although I would reserve this for older wines.
Younger more tannic and very full body wines I really find benefit from breathing, but I simply pour into a glass from 8" or so and let the glass sit for 30 minutes before drinking.

P.S I favour an Argentine Tempranillo.

Love a burgundy myself with a cigar always got to be drank from a big glass so you can give a little swirl to smell the flavours and make a sort of match with your cigar before picking one to light up
