I agree with the recommendations to buy smaller packs from the supermarkets or samplers from a coffee merchant to start with - once you find a coffee you like you can buy bigger amounts.

Also to comment on the coffee setups - nice! I only have a low end delonghi at home. It makes a cracking espresso (using lavazza) but I'm still trying to get the hang of the milk frother. The milk is perfect sometimes and rubbish others. Probably pilot error.

      Milk frothing

Just dip the nose into the top of the milk get the steam flowing through the milk before heating the rest then hold back the froth while pouring the milk then add to top with spoon mmm

I think it is also about the veritals/blend used. Coffee beans are like tobacco, a lot of variables. All I know is I buy whole roasted beans and it tastes like Turkish coffee in the filter machine. I believe the additional ingredient to traditional Turkish coffee is mastic.

Lavazza or illy for me. As my Mrs is from southern Italy we mainly drink espresso.

              This mornings effort.

For coffee I do strongly recommend specialists coffee roasters. Compared to supermarket beans (and I have tried many) it is night and day.

Look at Hasbean, Rave and Twoday as a starting point.
