I had some of that the other day, wow! The 12/17 year old DoubleWood Balvenie's are also excellent.

      • Cracked open this little baby earlier. Wasn't sure what to expect but it's great, full of sweetness. Highly recommend it

        • Picked up a bottle of this as a change of pace from my usual Laphroaig/Talisker.

Is that the same as I've just picked up?

            • Enjoying a wee dram of the Japanese whiskey Hibiki, a 12 year old blend. Very interesting blend, with hints of honey, pineapple and a sweet sponge cake. Amazing!

              • Laphroaig Select going down a treat tonight, no age to it so less complex flavours than usual but a very nice smooth and sweet flavour to it (like the PX cask version, if youve tried it) Pretty delicious!

                • Not greatly impressed but it was cheapish.

I personally love that bottle. Great sweetness and a peaty aftertaste. Good dram.

Try the aged statements if/when you get a chance, eh?

                      Have you had talisker storm?

                      • I've been buying drams lately (not cheap, but I get a lot of variety, so I don't mind paying a bit of a premium), and this is one I got for Valentines day. The Bowmore 10 year old Tempest, 55.6% cask strength.

This one has a tremendous kick. Peaty, citrus nose, some banana, antiseptic, syrup.
The taste is a warm, smokey, spicy peat.
A really long, warming finish. A bit like swallowing a hot coal.

                        Yowza!

Yup, a search will bring it up. This is a dram I really enjoyed!

No, not yet. I've been close a few times, but still unsure about it. I do like a peaty, smokey dram and have read the Storm is a bit more tame than the 10yr old, so I haven't stuck my neck out yet.

                              Do you rate it?
