I'm a definite fan of the Buffalo Trace, nicer than many bourbons costing a lot more. It seems like a better quality product that isn't trading on its name, unlike say Jack Daniels or Jim Beam. Its relative obscurity means it is bother cheaper, and gives one bragging rights to be drinking something a bit left field. :-)

I'm lucky if I get a cup of tea these days (though if someone got hitched, maybe there'd be a biscuit too)! But well done that fellow, married life obviously agrees. So far I've only had the double wood, but that was top notch.

I don't think I've tried any from the range before but seems like a range I need to explore.

Heard one too many good things about it now to ignore...

              • "Accidentally" went down the spirits aisle at Waitrose, they had a single bottle of this fabulous lady. Hastily checked online and found it was at moderate discount. It is now... mine!

Abelour A'bunadh Bottling No. 55. Cask strength at a whopping 60.9%.

I also bought a decent bottle of good still mineral water to dilute slightly and open up the flavours (though I may try some neat for experimental purposes).

                P.S.
After having to get a bigger knife to cut through the fabulously thick wax cap, I tried a thimbleful, neat. It's...eye opening. For the first time ever, I concur it's a spirit that needs a little dilution to release the good flavours.

Hopefully its better than the old haig club one then

Im not big into whisky, that said I have been trying it recently and picked up some 5cl samples. Today I picked up glenmorangie in waitrose down to ?25, been meaning to try it.

I didn't mind the original Haig...it was just a easy drink to have in the cupboard. Nothing to sing and dance about though.

                            Glenmorangie is nice.

Probably the price tag put me off, better drinks in that price range for sure.

I quite liked the original Haig too. Where is this on offer Sham?
